Reason behind early release of Joker

Joker Finally set to release on 31st August."Soon after JOKER was pulled back from September to August, it was said that the decision was taken since the film was no more in 3D. Since that gave the film some free time from the post production perspective, even Shirish Kunder, the director, was sure of getting the final copy in place sooner than later," says a source.

However this is just one part of the story. Second, and a very important reason, for this sudden decision was the response that the film garnered once the first theatrical promo was shown to the sub-distributors.

"In a closed door privately held screening, an exclusive promo was shown to many distributors from India as well as overseas. The response was overwhelming as it was unanimously agreed that JOKER boasted of a never-heard-before story and unique treatment. Those in the decision making capacity were quite happy with the outcome and it was at that point when Shirish was asked if he could finish his post production in advance," the source adds.

Since Shirish was anyways working towards the 31st August deadline regardless of the 3D or the 2D version, he was game for it. Now the next immediate target for him is to create the next version of promo which also includes a decent dose of VFX in it so that it makes a 'dhaansu' first impression for the 'aam janta'.
