The producers of the much awaited film Julayi have already laughed their way to the banks, as the film had beat the industry expectations and raked in big moolah, if Telugu trade pundits are to be believed!
''Julayi has surprised us for reasons more than one. For one, the film release date had been podtponed twice. And for two, style star Allu Arjun had not given a hit after Arya 2, since the last one year. Despite these odds, the movie had made pre-release revenues of Rs 35 crore across domestic and overseas territories,'' says a Telugu film analyst.
And, these revenues were including those that came from the satellite rights, bagged by Maa TV, which fetched Rs 5.7 crore, he adds.
What made the buyers crazy about Julayi is the fact that writer-turned-director Trivikram Srinivas and Allu Arjun are teaming up for the first time. Besides, Goa slim beauty Ileana, too, first time is doing on-screen romance with Arjun.
''Crazy combinations always cast their magic spell on the audience. And Julayi is no exception. However, it's to be seen whether the much-hyped movie will continue its money-churning run post the release too,'' says a Telugu film critic.
Julayi is slated for release on over 1,600 screens globally on August 9, 2012.
''Though the number of screens is much lesser than the recently-released Telugu flicks like Gabbar Singh and Eega, we expect more occupancy ... close to 80 per cent to be precise ... in the first two weeks, thereby grossing more than what these recent movies had collected. Also, to cash in on the demand and to make more quick bucks, we are screening Julayi preview shows in the US on August 8 itself, with plans to release the movie in that region on the same day,'' a representative of the film production house said, requesting not to be named.
