Sridevi’s comeback film English Vinglish is set to release on September 21,2012. The news is that the much-awaited film’s trailer will be released along with SS Rajamouli’s Eega, on July6.
Priya Anand of ‘Leader’(Telugu Film) fame is playing one of the key roles. Except for Sridevi, most of the faces are relatively unfamiliar to Hindi audience. Amit Trivedi is the music director.
The story of the film revolves around Sridevi. She will be seen as a middle class housewife who is weak in English. She takes it as a challenge to learn the language when people tease her for poor English.French actor Mehdi Nebbou is playing male lead role in this movie. He played one of the lead roles in Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster Munich.
Nebbou’s character speaks only in French in the film, a language Sridevi’s character cannot understand or speak, which is most important part of the script. As per the director the film has only few dialogues, that’s why the makers are shooting the film in 3 languages at once – Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
Producer of the movie R Balki says, “Only Sridevi can do this role. It is a popular belief in India that spoken English is very difficult. An English dilettante coming from a village proves to the world that speaking in English is her cup of tea. I am happy to be producing this movie in partnership with Eros International.”
English Vinglish is being directed by Gauri Shinde and produced by Balki and Eros International.
